OPPORTUNITY Temporary Data Analyst Position at CDPHE


The CDC has provided the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment supplemental funding to link traffic crash reports with several health data sets (hospitalization billing data, death records, trauma registry, and all payers claims database). The linked datasets will provide a more comprehensive picture of the risk and protective factors and outcomes of fatal and non-fatal injuries from motor vehicle crashes.
With this supplemental funding, we will be hiring a 9-month temporary statistical analyst to do the following:
1. Describe the transportation and health datasets that will be linked.
2. Assist injury epidemiologist in developing methodology to link the datasets. 
3. Examine and describe the linked datasets. 
4. Manually review the non-linked records with possible matches and improve linking methodology if needed.
5. Summarize data linkage results (number and percentage of records linked from each dataset).
6. Assist injury epidemiologist in developing and disseminating products (e.g. peer-reviewed article, fact sheet, report, and/or conference presentation).
Potential candidate must have:
  • Two years of experience in statistical analysis or one year of experience and a relevant Master degree, such as an MPH or other Master’s degree that requires course in statistics
  • Experience using SAS statistical software
