The Work Unit
The Prevention Services Division works with public and private partners across Colorado to improve the health of all Coloradans. Division professionals develop, review, implement and evaluate public health interventions proven to promote healthy living, prevent chronic disease, protect against injury and ensure access to health care and opportunities for a healthy lifestyle. The Violence and Injury Prevention - Mental Health Promotion (VIP-MHP) Branch exists to coordinate state and local efforts toward mental health promotion, substance abuse prevention, and the prevention of death and disability in Colorado due to unintentional and intentional injuries through health policy, legislation, public awareness and education, training, assessments, and intervention programs.
The Position
The purpose of this position is to support the implementation of the Comprehensive Human Sexuality Education Grant Program by overseeing contracts with implementing schools and school districts, providing technical assistance and support to implementing schools, and building relationships with schools and comprehensive human sexuality education content experts. This position will also provide support to the oversight entity including taking notes, coordinating meetings, and building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders. This position will actively participate in statewide and national work groups and/or coalitions related to comprehensive human sexuality education. In addition, the position will lead meetings and give presentations to diverse partners. This position will support the development of an annual legislative report and identify metrics and outcomes related to program implementation. This position requires strong communication skills and will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships at community, state, and federal levels in order to support implementation and evaluation. Additionally, this position will collaborate with other VIP-MHP Branch programs as needed to further the goals of the branch.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications/Substitutions:
Six (6) years of professional experience in community engagement and/or building the capacity of community stakeholders. This professional experience must include providing technical assistance* to diverse partners and communities. (Substitution)

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, sociology, social work, public policy, public administration or closely-related field AND Two years of professional experience in community engagement and/or building the capacity of community stakeholders. This professional experience must include providing technical assistance* to diverse partners and communities. (Minimum qualifications)

A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in public health, psychology, sociology, social work, public policy, public administration or other field of study related to the work assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. (Substitution)
*Technical assistance is defined as providing training, coaching, resource development, and quality assurance checks to partners. This is not a clinical or direct-service position.
