Angel Eyes is a credited
501(c)3 non-profit organization, formally The Colorado SIDS Program,
incorporated in 1981. The Colorado SIDS Program was the first, and one of the
few, SIDS organizations to combine a parent and a professional organization
into one agency to provide a statewide approach to SIDS services.
In 2008, Angel Eyes
recognized the need to expand services and began to provide a comprehensive
array of risk reduction and awareness services concerning all cases of sudden,
unexpected infant and toddler death with the only exception being cases where
there is parental involvement in the criminal justice system (e.g., homicides,
assault, criminal neglect) as a result of the death.
Beginning in 2012, Angel
Eyes expanded their bereavement services to include more consistent
individualized grief counseling to those affected by child loss through
individual/ family/couples/child counseling. Services were also expanded
to support siblings of the deceased child.
Our
core values are:
- Counseling and Support – compassionate and professional bereavement counseling and support services at no charge to families, caregivers and others that are impacted by the sudden, unexpected death of an infant or toddler.
- Education and Awareness – awareness and risk reduction education to the Colorado community.
In 2018, Angel Eyes
served 58 families and 89 individuals who lost a child within the last year.
Angel Eyes is located in Denver but does provide services to families
statewide. As a part of the mission, Angel Eyes seeks to provide services,
education and awareness to families statewide. In 2019, we hope to expand our
education and awareness services to help reduce the risk of sleep related
deaths. If you are interested in learning more please visit Angel Eyes or feel free to contact Meaghan
