Preventing Corporal Punishment

In 2018, the American Academy of Pediatrics issued an updated policy statement opposing corporal punishment, based on evidence that links physical punishment to increased aggression and other types of negative behavior in children. In this session, Dr. Robert Sege, coauthor of the updated policy, will describe the development of the policy based on the latest scientific evidence. Dr. Ryan Brown will discuss strategies to promote alternative methods of discipline including “No Hit Zones.”
