Sarah Roberts, DrPH, from the University of California, San Francisco, will present findings from the Drug-Alcohol Pregnancy Policy Study (D-APPS). This legal epidemiology study examines the impacts of 40 years of state-level policies targeting alcohol and drug use during pregnancy (alcohol/drug pregnancy policies) on alcohol use during pregnancy, adverse birth outcomes (including low birth weight and preterm birth), and prenatal care use, and how these relationships vary by race and socioeconomic status. The webinar will also offer explanations for how we arrived at the current state of state alcohol/drug pregnancy policies and make suggestions for a path forward for Maternal and Child Health Professionals given the current state of the evidence.
